"Life has never looked so promising for Shelby Hamlin. After weathering a lonely childhood, her father's death, and her mother's rejection for joining the Church, she is now engaged to someone who appears to be the ideal man: Brad Thompson, an ambitious BYU student who's stalwart in the gospel. And when Shelby travels alone to Brad's hometown in Montana while he's in California, she's warmly embraced by her future in-laws--with the exception of Cameron, Brad's resentful brother whose own engagement recently ended in bitter scandal. But as Cameron becomes Shelby's increasingly frequent companion in Brad's absence, their initial sparks of irritation become the glowing beginnings of a complicated romance. And as the two explore the breathtaking scenery of Big Sky country, Shelby's heart pulls her away from her carefully laid plans. Can she have the love she's always wanted without destroying the family of her dreams?"

In the first chapter we learn that Shelby is engaged to the perfect man. It felt shallow and I thought that Montana Summer was just another typical, LDS novel - more than a bit irritating. I was wrong. Montana Summer is not the typical LDS romance. Jeanette Miller can write. Her talent is especially showcased in the relationship of Shelby and Cameron, with an emotional passion that each tries to deny.

If you enjoy LDS romance, this is a good one to spend your night with.

Montana Summer Jeanette Miller 9781598119091 Books Reviews

One of my favorite novels. While ending is known by reading the back of the cover, getting to the ending is awesome. Really made me realize how important it is not to judge.
This story was so believable and fun that I wanted to step right into it and be one of the characters.I also want to plan a trip to Montana after reading about the gorgeous scenery and beautiful setting of the book. Unlike so many boy-meets-girl books where you don't get any of the spine-tingling, heart-racing romantic interactions until near the end of the book, Jeanette has sprinkled these liberally throughout. I loved reading Montana Summer!
This is possibly the most cheesy/fake book I've ever "read". And by "read" I mean I read 9 chapters and decided it was not worth my time. Just the wording is horrible. It was so bland and dull, no adjectives, or interesting new words. The story line is very predictable as well. I had read 4 or 5 pages and was telling my daughter about it. Right after I was telling her about she said "Shelbys going to find another boy, I know it.". She then told me to read the back of the book and it suggested that Grace (my daughter) is right. Don't buy it, just don't.
By the way the author described Montana, I felt like I was really there. This was a beautifully written novel and very hard to put down. I really hope Jeanette writes another one soon. I love clean romance!
Montana Summer is a LDS romance novel written by Jeanette Miller. I really think she is a talented author but she writes about a touchy subject. In my opinion if you are engaged to one man you do not kiss his brother. When Shelby started to have feelings for Brad's brother she should have put the brakes on the friendship with Cameron and figured out what she wanted or why she was feeling that way. These characteres were not teenagers. She really could have ripped a family a part whe Brad caught them. It is not like she was casually dating different people, she was an engaged women planning a wedding. That just did not sit with me well. Emotional and physical fidelity are very important to me. We can all be forgiven for our wrongs, but I would have preferred the characters not cross that line. So, be forwarned that if you have issues with fedility this book could upset you. I would not reread this book and I would forewarn anyone that asked me about reading this novel. Some may not care and that is fine, but it mattered to me.
The romance in this book is so natural and believable and the characters are so admirable. The setting is beautiful. I pulled an all-nighter with this one. Definitely a favorite!
I enjoyed Shelby's story of searching for family after being disowned by her mother for joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. This was really not as churchy novel although those values are shown. She struggles with her future marriage to Brad. She goes to spend some time with her future in-laws. Things happen as she learns to love this family. Good read.
