Mind. Is. Blown. I mean, really, what more could I have asked for with Stitch? Nothing, there is absolutely nothing more I could've wanted from a book. Stitch starts out seemingly as a ghost story with time travel. Then you find out that the main character, Alessa's life isn't at all what you or she thought it was. She isn't a college student whose parents died in an accident - she's really a prisoner whose memory has been tampered with or "stitched." The "ghost" that she's been seeing isn't a ghost at all - he's a real person she knows and loves. I was completely taken by surprise (I didn't read the synopsis anywhere close to the time I began reading) and could not believe how the this plot went from great to freaking awesome!

You know just by the name of my blog how much I love the movie Donnie Darko. Stitch reminds me of that movie when they talked about time travel, wormholes, time folding over time, alternate realities, and just when I thought there would never be something so original as the plot of Donnie Darko, Stitch comes along and proves me wrong. Never have I been so happy to be wrong!

But it wasn't just the talk of alternate realities and time travel - the layers of Stitch's characters, the complexity of the plot, and the richness in detail all gave me the reading experience I crave - to open up new ideas and expand my thinking about the nature of reality, our existence as human beings, and the ultimate question, why are we here (I don't think there's just one neat, pat answer). Which is exactly what seeing Donnie Darko did for me, too.

I love books like this that make me think about both the good and evil humanity is capable of. I like to imagine what I would do if I were in the situation, how would other people handle the devastation of the outbreak, and if a group of people would try to start society over again only to let power go to their heads and cloud their vision to where they're controlling others. Incidentally, I believe whether a catastrophe struck or not, there will always be people trying to control other people. This isn't to say I'd want to experience any of this - I'd rather devour this trilogy and keep it all in my imagination! I don't want to think about losing anyone or the world as I know it coming to an end.

Stitch has romance, action, and plenty of plot twists that will keep you turning the pages. You'll be conflicted like me as to whether you want to read faster to find out what happens next or slower to savor every word. This book will make you think about the nature of reality, something I personally have wondered about many times in my life. To be entertained and given much to think about - you can't ask for more than that from a book!

Stitch Stitch Trilogy Book 1 Samantha Durante 9780985804602 Books Reviews

I received a copy of "Stitch" by Samantha Durante for an honest review. I also was able to snag it when had a deal price of $0.00!
Well worth the tiny amount that its selling for currently .
At first I was iffy about this book. It seemed like everywhere I turned a new dystopian theory was popping up; hunger games, matched trilogy, Quarantine, I'll be the first to admit its not my favorite genre.
Saying that I was a bit resistant to a lot of the themes in the book. It reminded me of Divergent, the Host, Annihilation of Foreverland for example.
Then it picked up. The fact that the Paragon had gone to such lengths to create a perfect communist civilization just seemed outrageous to me, I've always subscribed to the "looks good on paper, but people will never be able to be so altruistic . It's just not in our nature. This has been proven over & over again.
Regardless of that this trilogy is a YA fiction novel and in that regard it scored BIG POINTS with Mousehead & Tales a whopping 4 $ $ $ $!
The story is told through Alessa's eyes. She was a survivor of the deadly virus that killed most of the worlds population and made it to the gates of Paragon. Supposedly a safety zone and living space for any survivors who could make it there.
Alessa was a teen when she got there and was optimistic about this new life.
As usual things were not what they seemed in Paragon and Alessa & her closest friend Joe figured out some disturbing facts. Through watching and trying to act like nothing was out of the ordinary , they found out that there were many others at Paragon that were equally as appalled at the truth behind the stand in government . This is when they join a rebellion to try to find out exactly why the stand in government is hiding so much food, technology , and truth from the entire populace living w/I the walls.
These "missions" lead to more than Alessa or Joe EVER could have suspected. There are lots of tragic occurrence's. Instead of letting them crush her desire to defeat this false government , it adds fuel to the flame.
I found "Stitch" to be a great debut for Samantha Durante to introduce herself to the world! I'm off to read book 2 in the trilogy "Stutter" I'll be hosting a tour stop on July 5th 2013 at Http//www.mouseheadandtales@weebly.com ! If you want to have a chance at winning a copy or learning more about the series. Grab a copy from or follow the blog hop!
